It use to be that France was the capital of wine. And then California came along and started winning awards for their wine as well. Now, every location has a winery or two it seems. Even Oregon has some vineyards and my last day in Oregon was the chance to go and tour the vineyards. Woo hoo!

I am giving up alcohol but this was one of my last times to enjoy a beverage of an adult nature. Trying different wines is a great way to learn a bit of business, marketing, farming, and patience. Vineyards can be years old if not hundreds of years old. They can develop a very unique flavor. And in some cases they just get you drunk with friends.

Instead of taking the big camera with me I was sporting my small Fuji camera. In fact each of us was using our small mirrorless cameras. We even tried out each other’s equipment. That is a benefit of having fellow photographers as friends. We even encourage each other to spend money on photography to a wild abandon.

During my visit I was able to talk Brian into buying an Ona Brixton camera bag. That is the camera bag I use on a daily basis to carry my small camera kit, laptop and an iPad. Woo hoo!

Lavender is a beautiful flower. I have done a little bit of photography of the scented flower but it is always fun to capture it in the “wild.” This was in a greenhouse at one of the vineyards.

We were also able to find a few other scenes to look around and do some shopping. One vineyard had an olive oil store. I bought some cookbooks even though I don’t cook—I just photograph the food.

It is always fun to talk to the people pouring the wine. They are a wealth of knowledge. It is fun to pick the brains of people in a different industry.

Each vineyard had flower gardens for decoration. Oregon is just green to begin with and just perfect for flowers.
