Salt Lake Temple at Night During Christmas

by dav.d

In Utah there may not be a more photographed building than the Salt Lake Temple. It took 40 years to build and was dedicated in 1893. In sits at the heart of Temple Square which during Christmas is decorated with Christmas Lights. It is even more popular with tourists and photographers alike.

I have photographed the temple a few times, usually during a photo walk. And then on the occasional wedding. My brother Jonathan married Kelli Jo there!

This first photograph was created with a tilt-shift lens. It allows me to blur parts of the photograph. It sends your focus to the Angel Moroni at the top spire.

This photograph was taken by the water pool by the church office building. With a tripod and long shutter speed we get the water to stand still and look almost like ice. I want to go and rephotograph the temple during sunrise and sunset. I’m not sure why most of my photos are at night!
