Amberly, Photographer – Day 271 of 365

written by dav.d

Today a number of photographers got together to photograph each other – sort of a round robin attempt to share headshots. And it was a great way to meet some other photographers – including Amberly. I wanted to post this photo cause I think it is dang cool.

The photograph was created with my Canon 50mm f/1.2 lens and my brand new Honl Photo Traveller8 Softbox. I’ll post some photos of the actual softbox later – it is pretty dang cool and it packs flat so it is über portable.

Black & White Photograph of Julianne – Day 113 of 365

written by dav.d

Christmas day is supposed to be a relaxed day with family – and it has been – sort of. It is my duty/calling to photograph for the family. It is a lot of fun and sometimes I can capture a truly unique jem. Julianne is the free spirit of her family and she is always fun to photograph. Being an uncle to cute kids and being a photographer – perfect combination. And my sister loves the family photos.

I edited this photograph with Nik Software’s Silver Efex Pro. It was shot with my Nikkor f/1.4 50mm lens.

dav.d photographs self – Day 100 of 365

written by dav.d

It’s a self portrait of yours truly! In between photo shoots today I had some time to kill at the studio so I turned the camera around and photographed myself. This is with the wide angle side of my Tamron lens – and wide angle lenses aren’t the best thing for portraits, but this works. I will be working on losing weight and getting in better shape so I can get some real photos – I want my friend and amazing photographer David Newkirk to photograph me.

But in the meantime I threw on some goofy glasses and made some silly faces – and it also marks 100 days in a row that I have taken a photograph and posted it to my blog. I am hoping this is turning me into a better photographer. Tomorrow I will be working on some photo editing and design work. Although I might calm down and take a break. I took about 1400 photographs in the past 3 days in about 8 different photo shoots.
