Sunlight and a beauty dish light our model
Here is a preview image from Saturday’s photo shoot. The shoot on Saturday was the chance to play with three Alien Bee strobe lights – but to be honest I usually need just one. Three can be overwhelming and even difficult to manage.
Here we have a photograph with technically 2 lights – the strobe and the sunlight. The sun is directly behind the model – it is even flaring in the lens – which looks so cool. When looking through the camera before I click the shutter I can barely make out the form of the model – the sun just overpowers everything. But when the flash pops it is able to fill in the shadows and cast enough light on the model.
So if you want some cool photos and I am wanting to do some practice photography – or stock photography – jump at the chance. It is a lot of fun. This was taken on Floral Street in Salt Lake City, Utah. Oh, and I used the Topaz Detail Photoshop plugin on this photograph as well. That helped define the pavement, buildings and such. I masked that out on the model because we want her skin and clothes to look smooth and soft not harsh and edge.
