Jhonathan Lange Male Model Headshots

written by dav.d

I am still catching up on blogging some older photo shoots. These photo shoots have been from Christmas and January and I had given the photos to the clients a while ago just never blogged the dang photos. And I sometimes like to edit the photos a little bit more – but more and more I don’t think I need to claw through photographs in Photoshop. More and more I am able to photograph and they photos are ready right out of camera – which is cool.

And this was my first photo shoot with my Lastolite Ezybox softbox – and I really like the light it creates for portraits. This is also proof that I can photograph outdoors in the middle of winter. We can’t go for too long because the nose will turn red but we get some great shots in the time we have.

I had what I call an emergency photo shoot. The modeling agency tells an upcoming model they need some headshots and portfolio photography ASAP. So this morning – braving the cold – Jhonathan Lange took center stage and we were able to create some amazing photographs! Here is one of those photos as a preview. I will edit some more and post them in another blog post.

To take these photographs I used one lens and one portable softbox. I used my Nikkor f/1.4 50mm lens. And for the light I used a Nikon SB-800 shot through my new Lastolite Ezybox 24″ softbox. That softbox combination is awesome! I am converted! The set up allows me to photograph at amazing shutter speeds such as 1/8000 th of a second and that allows me to photograph at f/1.4. You can’t do that in outside daylight with Alien Bees.

Hooray for strobist techniques! I want to go photograph again! And in January I believe I will be photographing Jhonathan and his sisters and even his mom. They are all looking at modeling possibilities – very cool indeed!
