Glassware and lights create a very cool photograph

Saturday night I photographed the Human Rights Campain Gala Dinner in Salt Lake City, Utah. I will say that I rock as an event photographer – and I am not afraid to toot my own horn. I should change my business cards to say dav.d, ninja photographer.

I get everywhere and I try to photograph everyone and everything. And I try to be as unobtrusive as possible. (more…)

HRC Gala Dinner

written by dav.d

I was an event photographer for the Human Rights Campaign 4th Annual Gala dinner, hosted by Bruce Bastian. The HRC is a political action committee that works for the equality of gay, straight, transgender, bi-sexual and other in the work place and more. I wanted to approach this as if I was photographing a wedding. Capture details, capture people having fun, capture the atmosphere. It was a lot of fun. Granted I didn’t photograph portraits as one would do at a wedding but then you can only practice so much.

And I didn’t retouch to many of these in photoshop. Time and money are the big factors in whether something is fancied up in photoshop. But it does stress the importance of getting something right in camera. And the pictures did come of the of the camera very nice. Sometimes you don’t need to make a photo better if they are just right out of camera.
