When I photographed for Utah’s Gay Pride it was raining during the parade – and it rained off and on during the weekend. However, for the volunteer thank you dinner the weather was perfect – clear skies! It is about time. (more…)

An Evening of Protest
written by dav.dTo say that the California Supreme Court’s judicial decision regarding Proposition 8 was a disappointment would be an understatement. There were two good things that came out of the ruling – there are 18,000 gay marriages that are legal and protected by law in California. The second thing is that the fight for equality under the law continues.

Protest at Thanksgiving Point
written by dav.dDid you know that it is legal to fire someone from their job because they are gay? Did you know it is legal to evict someone from their home or apartment because they are a lesbian? How does this defend marriage?
In my opinion everyone is equal under the law – everyone should have the same rights and the same protections. Jim Crow laws of the south were once the rule of the day and they were wrong. So I stand with friends to fight for equality.
This past week we made signs at the Utah Pride center and the next day we held a peaceful protest outside Thanksgiving Point. Freedom isn’t free, but freedom is for all.

Proposition 8 Protest Rally – Salt Lake City
written by dav.dI love a good protest. America’s greatest gift to the world is the gift of protest. In this case the protest was started by my good friend Jacob Whipple. I took his engagement photos and posted them the other day. Well with the passage of prop 8 we decided to protest and Jacob got the whole thing going in a day.
