BYU hasn’t been doing very well playing at home – but they did win this game. Next week? BYU will play Utah at home – I don’t have tickets to that game but will be watching it in HD with the family.

Brigham Young University and the Lavell Edward Stadium

It is that time of year again and my family was able to secure about 4 tickets to 4 different home games for BYU football. I would love to be a sports photographer down on the side line, however, sports photography is EXPENSIVE and I don’t think the return on investment is that great for photographers. To be in that league I would need at least the Nikkor f/4 200-400mm lens and another camera body or two. And to sweeten the deal I would probably need a 500mm or a 600mm lens.

Would I object if Santa Claus left that under the Christmas tree? No. Will it happen? I doubt it. But it would be fun.

And can you imagine photographing portraits with a 200-400mm lens? Dang that would be cool.

Side light gives a huge dimension to a subject

For the record my family’s blood bleed BYU blue. And so I photographed my BYU baseball hat. To make the image pop I lit the logo from the side with an Nikon SB-800. Once I put a my macro lens on my camera it is very difficult to remove. It takes very sharp photographs. Even though it can spend a long time trying to lock focus on subjects.
