Rich Barton on the Bonneville Salt Flats

Yay! Another blog post with a model on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The Bonneville Salt Flats are so worth it. And Rich has some awesome tattoos – makes me wish that I had a tattoo, oh wait…

We also played with a friend’s BMW as a prop. I also had Rich holding a small speedlight and he would shine that as a spot light for a little bit of added drama to the scene.

The Salt Flats are still drying out – apparently the best time of the year to go there is September. This was my 3rd photo shoot out on the Salt Flats and someone finally told me the secret of when the Flats are perfectly dry.

Jacob Whipple on the Bonneville Salt Flats

Jacob Whipple is moving out of Utah. He has accepted a position in North Carolina. So we took a trip out to the Bonneville Salt Flats for a photo shoot. We also brought along some friends – they will have their blog posts as well.

The weather was iffy – and we lucked out. As long as it isn’t raining then I can use my studio lights outside – and looming storm clouds make some amazing backdrops. The rain started to fall right as the sun was gone so we packed up quickly and enjoyed a lightning storm on the way back to Salt Lake City.

And anytime I photograph someone who wears no shirt – it really makes me feel like I need to get to the gym.

See This! creates a panorama of the Bonneville Salt Flats on my iPhone 4

I found a cool new app for my iPhone 4 – and it only works on the iPhone 4. It is called See This! You push a button and move the camera and it will take photos and put them together as if the photos are just stacked on a desk or table top. It is pretty cool. This was from yesterday’s photo shoot at the Bonneville Salt Flats and I figured I’d show it off.

Preview of a Bonneville Salt Flat Photo Shoot – Day 327 of 365

I absolutely love photographing on the Bonneville Salt Flats (I have been calling them the Utah Salt Flats for the longest time – oh well). And today I had the chance to photograph 3 people – two of them shirtless. The one female model didn’t want to go topless, go figure. lol

Anyway, I was nervous the rain would show up and make things impossible. However, the rain stayed away for the most part and only showed up as we were packing. So we got some amazing clouds and light and of course I had my big studio lights on hand. This is one preview photo of Jacob Whipple. He will be moving to North Carolina next month and we had to get to the Salt Flats before he left.
