The theme was eye makeup and a flower that would match the makeup. We had a lot of fun! When we find more time I think we will collaborate again.

Today’s photograph is sort of appropriate. This is a test shot – but I love this shot. We will be photographing someone and trying to capture the fact that they are stressed. How better to deal with stress than drinking copious amounts of Red Bull, Rockstar Energy Drink, and coffee? And after a year of daily photographs I am a little bit less stressed – although there is still a lot of stress. What is life without some stress?

Dealing with Stress

In the past year I have improved a ton in my photography. I find that my photographs are ready right out of the camera and there is little editing that needs to be done. I am doing more and more off camera lighting (usually with one light) to create what I think is awesome art work. I have also invested a little bit (a lot of bit) of money into some new camera gear and even old camera gear.

A year ago I was strictly a Nikon gearhead. Now I have a bunch of Canon gear, film cameras, point-n-shoots, and a new iPhone 4 with kick butt camera. I now carry at least one camera with me to anywhere and everywhere I go. I am learning to see the world through a lens and bring that vision to the world through this blog and Facebook.

I am going to continue photographing daily, I find photographing to be a great way to relieve stress. I won’t always blog the photos and I will stop numbering my blog posts – so you won’t see the “- Day ### of 365″ anymore. I need to photograph daily because I find that is the best way to improve my skills as a photographer. This is both a hobby and a second job. I shoot for fun and hopefully have photography pay for itself.

This is Sterling and he is a geek. There is nothing wrong with geeks!! We were taking photographs for an ad campaign with the Utah AIDS Foundation. We were taking photographs that will be used with geeks, nerds, and blah blah blah as the focus. Not exactly sure how this ad campaign is working – I am just the photographer. We used the SLC Library as a location and I got to use 2 of camera strobe lights. I will be posting more photographs later.

Since the Bush side of the family is not my family – I was a bit fuzzy on the who-is-who. And it wasn’t until I wrote this blog post that I realized the great opportunity I almost had. However, LaRee seems to be doing quite well so she should be around for another event for a 4 generation photograph.

The following photo was a team effort. The makeup is by Robin Bodily. I had my friend Nicole photograph me with my favorite lens the Canon 85mm f/1.2. And then I did a bunch of Photoshop retouching adding some textured layers and using a Photoshop action from NicholeV. I love this photo! This was my first time having professional makeup applied. Woo hoo! And after the photo shoot, I wore this zombie makeup to an event where I was the photographer. Zombie photographer!
