Another photowalk at lunch – this time with a Lensbaby but this time I put a star shaped aperture ring in the lens – this creates stars in the highlights of the blurry portions of the photograph. Pretty cool – can it be faked in photoshop? Yes, the software program Alien Skin Bokeh can do this but you have to do this in photoshop and it is extra work. And sometimes – you want to do as much as you can in camera without resorting to photoshop.

I really like this kind of photograph – with the branches being shaped by the star aperture.
