Photographers and Models storm the castle

There are times where I don’t think I need to edit photos – the lighting and the subject look perfect when they come out of the camera. But then I start to dodge and burn and boost contrast and saturation and things do look even better. I love using my Wacom Intuos 4 large tablet – it is has an active area of 8″ by 12″ and it is amazing. And it is so much fun using the Provo Castle for a location. It has a lot of texture.

When we arrived the state hospital, who owns the property, was testing temperature of all those who were coming to the area. Apparently it is their precaution against the swing flu. Fortunately me, JT the model, and Brian the other photographer all passed with flying colors.

When editing photos I try to stick to the just a few Photoshop actions – this way the photos have a fairly cohesive look and feel. Some of the photoshop actions I use most often are the Kevin Kubota actions, Totally Rad Actions, and Nichole Van Actions.

And I always run a selective sharpen action on the eyes. That is usually the only part of the photo I will attempt to sharpen. There are a few times I won’t sharpen the eyes – if they aren’t sharp to begin with or if they are so tiny then it isn’t worth it.

Soon I may start photographing for some stock photography. I am registered with iStockPhoto.com but I have only uploaded maybe 4 images. But I might do some “time for images” with some models and start submitting more images. So if you are interested let me know.

What a fine man JT is! His eyes and body are incredible. He should definitely go mainstream if he hasn’t done so already.
I love your work, Dav. Your photography has a great relaxed, natural feel to it. Keep going strong.
