This Saturday we are going to have a monument rally/demonstration/protest. America was founded on dissent – and we will be dissenting big time! This is part of a nationwide protest. This is also a rally to support 6 bills as part of the Common Grounds Initiative.
In a recent survey many Utahns said that although they oppose gay marriage they believe (66%) that there are some rights that gay couples deserve such as job protection, housing protection, expanded health care, wrongful death and other protections.
The LDS church mentioned the day Prop 8 passed that it did not oppose these rights for the LGBT community. This march is to support the legislation to give some equality to people who are currently second class citizens.
