QUAC Car Wash

written by dav.d

Saturday I photographed the QUAC car wash. With the help of men in speedos and women in swimsuits (some bikinis) we raised about 580 dollars! It was a lot of work – my job was to make them look fabulous. And the photos turned out great! I brought some lighting to combat the direct sunlight and it worked for the most part. In fact a lot of the photos look like they could have been from the current advertising from American Eagle.

For the photographers out there – I used 2 Nikon SB-800s on Bogen lightstands. I used Alien Bees new wireless triggers and receivers to set off the lights. I shot in manual mode and the flashes were set to 1/4 power. I will try and include information down the road because I think sharing information with other photographers benefits everyone.

Here is a link to the gallery – or click any of the photos.

Maren climbs the playground

written by dav.d

Maren, who is now in the first grade was excited when we photographed at this playground. It had been the playground for her kindergarten and she was excited to show us what she could do. She had mastered climbing everything – I don’t think they let you graduate without doing so.

I also like to try and direct some emotion – yes you can have a smile in every photo. But you can have some really cute pictures if you can get them to cry, or look sad, or angry. Maybe they aren’t the best actors but it is fun and you can sometimes tell a fun story. I like the photo of Maren looking sad because no one will ride the teeter totter with her.
